Our Projects and bespoke packages for young people leaving care, children in care and children at risk of exclusion
Storeys projects use creative arts to examine areas of emotional health. We run projects that are specially tailored to young people leaving care, children in care and children at risk of exclusion. A full project consists of 12, two hour sessions. Each session focusses on a different arts approach, including visual art, performance art and creative writing. This is paired with one aspect of a young person's emotional health and wellbeing, starting with their strengths, then looking at self expression and communication, what it means to live alone, managing emotions and positive thinking, and relationships and support networks. We want our sessions to be as full of joy and energy as possible, to provide an engaging way for young people to take ownership of these topics.
We work with two age groups: care leavers aged 16+ and children in care or children at risk of exclusion aged 11 - 14. The topics we cover in these projects are similar, retaining a focus on emotional health and wellbeing, but sessions are adapted to be suitable for the age group.
Usually our projects are delivered as one or two sessions per week, however we also do bespoke packages for school holidays or young people leaving care who are currently unemployed, which are delivered in intensive weeks.
